Outstanding candidates result in two scholarship recipients

For only the second time in its history, the Sharon A Schoeneck Christian Women’s Leadership Scholarship has been awarded to two students. Sydney Giovinazzo and Sierra Tackett were each awarded the $5,000 annual scholarship at the Christian Women’s Leadership Circle 2015 Butterfly Brunch.

“I knew immediately after the committee interviews that there would have to be two this year,” said Sharon Schoeneck, principal benefactress of the scholarship awards, “They were both so outstanding.”

Sierra, a senior Biochemistry major aspires to attend medical school. She chose to attend Wisconsin Lutheran College after graduation from Lakeside Lutheran High School in 2012.

One reason that Sierra chose WLC was for the abundant opportunities to become involved in research in a way that she could also learn about Christ. She not only found research at WLC, but she also found a way to combine leadership with research. She joined the WLC team for the International Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) competition after her freshman year. Read Sierra’s full bio online.
