2015 Butterfly Brunch | Teri Jendusa-Nicolai

Mark your calendars! The 2015 Butterfly Brunch will be held on Saturday, March 7, in the Campus Center at Wisconsin Lutheran College. We are pleased to announce our keynote speaker will be Teri Jendusa-Nicolai, nationally known speaker, activist, and advocate for domestic violence. 

Teri will share her story of survival, hope, and faith in her presentation: Left for Dead: Finding the presence of God in the midst of tragedy.

A victim of domestic abuse, Jendusa-Nicolai was nearly murdered by her ex-husband eleven years ago. After being viciously beaten with a baseball bat, bound with duct tape, stuffed into a garbage can with snow, and moved to a frigid storage locker in northern Illinois, the Racine native spent the next 21 hours praying, thinking of her two young daughters, and trying to stay awake. She believes that it was God’s plan for her was to survive. And thrive.

Today, Jendusa-Nicolai has remarried, her daughters are in high school, and she has a seven year old son. She travels around the country speaking on the issue of domestic violence and acting as an advocate for enhanced legislation on behalf of abused victims. Additionally, she works closely with the Racine County Sheriff’s department to improve resources, protections, and notifications for victims of domestic violence.

Teri has appeared on ABC's 20/20, Barbara Walters, the Oprah Winfrey Show, and on a number of local news stations.
