CWLC Fall Event: Update on the WELS New Hymnal Project

The Christian Women's Leadership Circle hosted our fall event at Wisconsin Lutheran College on September 27th, featuring Pastor Michael Schultz who serves as director for the WELS Hymnal Project. Pastor Aaron Christie from Trinity Lutheran Church, Waukesha, provided the musical accompaniment. Pastor Schultz provided some history and background on the hymnal project in process and described some of the methods by which the committee is gathering input from WELS congregations and members. Looking forward, Pastor Schultz gave an overview of the extensive online resources that will be available to congregations and their members. A tremendous amount of research and gathering of feedback has been done to date.

You can learn more about the hymnal project by visiting their website at www.welshymnal.com. By joining their email list (sign up on that site), you will receive future updates on the committee's work. I encourage you to check out the website, as there is lots of interesting information. You can even give them your feedback! You can offer your reaction to the committee's initial decision about which of the currently-published hymns will be kept and which will be cut. The site invites you to review the lists and give your feedback through an online survey.

With the new hymnal launch planned for 2024, much is still to be done. We encourage your prayers for Pastor Schultz and his committee as they continue their work.

Thank you for your continued support of the CWLC's mission with your prayers and gifts. Be sure to mark your 2018 calendar with the date of our next Butterfly Brunch - Saturday, March 10, 2018.  We hope to see you there!
